The Albanian President, Bamir Topi, declared that despite the
fulfillment of the main standards for EU membership, there are big
challenges still to face.

However, Topi emphasized that the political class is focused towards EU integration, and he also showed his trust and optimism that Albania will soon receive the candidate status from EU.

President Topi released this declaration in today’s meeting with Montenegrin Foreign Minister of EU Integration, Milan Roçen, who is visiting our country.

Both diplomats focused on the cooperation opportunities in the Balkan, especially in terms of development and realization of several projects in areas such as common infrastructure, tourism and the ecosystem.

“We have a clear and common EU perspective, and this helps as a motive, as one of main pillars of cooperation and communication between Balkan countries, in order to build a peaceful, safe and prosperous common future”, said the Albanian President Bamir Topi.

Minister Roçen noted the need of the Balkan countries to deepen mutual cooperation, aiming the fulfillment of integration aspirations in Euro-Atlantic structures.
