EU in Kosovo: “Relations with neighbors, necessary”

The Chairwoman of the EU office in Prishtina said that Kosovo is ranked last as regards progress towards the EU.

Among the many obligations for the EU integration path, the good-neighbouring relation is underlined.

“Kosovo and Serbia must intensify their efforts for normalizing their relations. There will be no other alternative for both of them, as regards the European future. The most pressing matter for Kosovo are rule-of-law reforms, basic rights, good governing, more efforts for reconciliation and good relations with neighbours”, said Natalya Apostolova, Chief of the EU office in Kosovo.

One of the criteria Kosovo needs to fulfil for the visa-free travel is the border demarcation with Montenegro.

For President Thaci, the EU has not treated Kosovo equally to other states in their strategy. This approach is a consequence of the fact that some EU members have not recognized Kosovo’s independence, Thaci said.
