The EU Commissioner for enlargement, Johannes Hahn, and the EU High
Representative for Foreign Policy, Federica Mogherini, expressed their
regret for the opposition’s parliamentary boycott and for not
registering to be part of the elections.

Mogherini and Hahn declared in a joint declaration that the political debate must be done inside the Parliament, based on Democratic practices.

“Citizens deserve a responsible leadership. We appear politicians to behave responsibly, respect institutions and make way for democratic elections, based on international standards”, says the declaration.

Mogherini and Hahn noted Albania’s need to have a judiciary reform, which has been attacked by the opposition.

“We appeal the parties to complete the creation of the Vetting law. Attacking the judiciary reform rather than implementing it, damages the present and future of Albania”, the declaration continued.
