The Albanian President, Bujar Nishani, held a meeting with the General
Director for Enlargement at the European Commission, Christian
Danielsson.
President Nishani underlined that the key of success for the reforms is all-inclusiveness, not only for parties, but also for the best local and European expertise.
Danielsson declared that the European Commission will keep investing in Albania, and that the five priorities are very clear, but the focus should extend even further. He mentioned the concerns of the business climate and the property issues.
The General Director of Enlargement was welcomed by the Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta, with whom he discussed about Albania’s progress in fulfilling the five EU priorities, and about the progress of the reforms undertaken by the government.
Meta expressed his appreciation for the work and dedication of the European Commission regarding Albania’s European agenda, and noted that the Parliament will keep intensifying the implementation of the action plan and its supervisory role through transparency, all-inclusiveness and by focusing on the standards that need to be reached.
Mr.Danielsson congratulated the Parliament Speaker about the agreement of this December, which guaranteed the presence of the opposition in the Parliamentary life, by underlining that the European Commission is the best friend of Albania during the integration process.
Christian Danielsson met with the opposition leader, Lulzim Basha, who expressed his concern regarding the turning of our country into a favorable terrain for the production and trafficking of narcotics. He mentioned the cocaine lab and the involvement of the Armed Force Major in the international drug traffic.
The Democratic Party leader declared that decriminalization is a vital process for our country and for the European future, since there are new cases each day, according to Basha, of new public administration recruits with a criminal past, even in high government posts.
Basha updated the Director of Enlargement with what he called unilateral acts of the majority that aim capturing justice, not reforming it.
