The EU Council of Foreign Ministers issued a statement in which they
support the Commission’s recommendation for starting Albania’s EU
accession negotiations.

Same as the Commission, the negotiations will start until Brussels sees a concrete implementation of the justice reform on terrain.

“The negotiations will depend on the implementation level of the justice reform, and Albania must also progress with five priorities”, the conclusion asys.

The Justice Reform is still suspended by a Constitutional Court verdict against the Vetting Law, which addressed the Venice Commission for an opinion. The Opinion arrived yesterday, and Venice said they did not find any violation of human rights.

The EU Council of Foreign Ministers gathered this Tuesday. Before the meeting, the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Good Neighboring, Johannes Hahn, was asked by journalists if the Commission has a key condition, and he answered that “as always, a solution will be found for the best interest of Albanian citizens”.
