President Bujar Nishani received this Wednesday the EU Commissioner for
Neighboring Policies and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn.

President Nishani said that the implementation of the reforms based on the guide of the European Commission are the main priority, including the justice reform and also the other four priorities that include fight against organized crime, corruption, public administration, human rights and property issues.

As for the justice reform, the President said that he supports a reform that is based on the Venice Commission recommendations and the European Standards. This reform goes beyond the justice system mechanisms since it is a constitutional reform. Hence, it should guarantee longevity, according to the President.

The President mentioned the property issue as a basic right related to important areas of development. He asked for more attention on this key priority, especially after the law that passed recently in the Albanian Parliament and which goes against the standard imposed by the European Court of Human Rights.

President Nishani and Commissioner Han discussed the regional policy of Albania, focusing on the evaluation of a constructive course that contributes to peace, stability and harmonic co-existence.

The President underlined that offering a hopeful perspective for the new generation is one of the major challenges of our country, and that the regional forums, those based on the Berlin Process or on the Brdo Brijuni process, have created a window for serious discussions on this priority.
