The EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Johannes Hahn, greeted the agreement between Kosovo and Serbia for Kosovo’s phone prefix.
Hahn said on Twitter that this will accelerate the other agreements, such as the establishing of the Association of Serbian Communes in Kosovo and the energy agreement.
The government of Kosovo and the EU office in Kosovo announced this Sunday the agreement that was reached for Kosovo’s phone code, which will be available on December 15th.
The new prefix will be +383 and it will replace all other codes that Kosovo uses after the war.
The opposition criticized this decision, saying that in exchange Prishtina will allow a Serbian operator in the Kosovo territory, and the phone calls between Kosovo and Serbia will be paid as local calls, not international ones.
