EU, 4 principles for Vetting law, red lines and millions in EU funds

The EURALIUS mission reviewed the principles for the reevaluation
process of judges and prosecutors. They seem to have established some
red lines for the technical definition of the vetting law, but some
other red lines have been removed.

These four principles are related to deadlines, institutions, role of international observers and role fo justice collaborators.

The way they will be reflected on the vetting law will depend the EU funds that will be given for the expensive vetting structures.  The Chief of the EURALIUS mission has expressed this very clearly in the written evaluation of the 55-page-long opinion for the Democratic Party.

“The European Commission asked me to make noted that these principles are decisive for the commitment of the EU in the reevaluation process, and for mobilizing millions of Euros from EU tax payers”, said Rainer Deville, Director of the EURALIUS Mission.

EURALIUS published these principles this Wednesday on its Facebook page, right after the Special Meeting for Justice. But the post was deleted after democrats filed a complaint. The post showed clear differences from the Democratic Party version, for the way how should be translated into law the four principles that will make the vetting process fair, efficient and able to bring back public’s trust to justice. This was also read by the Chairman of the Justice Reform Commission, Fatmir Xhafaj.

“This is different from what the Democratic Party has claimed. It has been reflected in the stance they have held. The DP must also understand that this is something that should be taken in consideration”, Xhafaj said.

The Vetting law is seen as the most difficult and delicate one in the justice reform. It seems it will  challenge once again the political wills for the implementation of the justice reform.
