Regardless the order signed by the Prime Minister in 2006 and the
declarations of the Environment Minister in 2010, who removed Erzen from
the list of exploitable rivers, the massacre against environment
continues with the same pace.
Construction companies not only have not stopped their work, but they have accelerated the pace, endangering the residents of Tagan village, in Petrele village. By digging the riverbed without any criteria, they have increased insecurity among residents for landslides, especially in the rain season, when the river level is significantly augmented. Furthermore, the flooding of this area is becoming almost sure.
The residents have protested several times, but the only answer they have received has been by the Police, who have taken them under custody and have left the companies to continue their illegal work. The residents declare that they are ready to protest, but there have been too many pressures, especially to those who work in the state administration.
A great part of the lands in this village are endangered, and nevertheless, the work against the riverbed is unstoppable.
The institutions remain silent, becoming accomplice of this unseen environmental massacre, which is being consumed in front of the eyes of all Albanians. After the prefecture, the leader of the Basins Council, the Urban Construction Inspectorate and regional environmental offices are joining with the other silent culprits. Top-Channel has been unable to receive an answer even from this institution that is joining its other state owned partners.
