The Albanian Energy Corporation seems determined to finalize the
agreement for depositing excessive energy to the Serbian company EFT.

the decision of the Energy Regulation Entity, which demanded the Energy Corporation (KESH) to manage the situation at the Energy Secretariat. The corporation addressed the Secretariat and is now waiting for an opinion, since this is about a procedure that comes as a need of our market for legal amends”, said Jonid Kazani, Chief of regulatory matters at KESH.

The agreement of KESH with EFT was publicly denounced by former PM, Sali Berisha, as a huge corruptive affair, which, according to him, gives the Serbian company the right to manage the Drin cascade. But KESH rejected the accusations.

“The energy that gets deposited is the one that suffices after all public demands are met. Instead of selling it for economic gain, as we used to do, KESH has found the mechanism to return it into a value for the company”, Kazani says.

According to KESH, this agreement has only benefits for the public. “If this procedure had existed the first semester of 2016, KESH would have profited 5 million EUR”, Kazani declared.
