EP will vote resolution for Albania on February 14th

The European Parliament will vote on February 14th the resolution on Albania, based on the report prepared by MEP Knut Fleckenstein, which was approved by the Foreign Commission.

The voting of this resolution comes five months before the new central elections in Albania. Free, fair elections and the implementation of the judiciary reform is seen as the main condition set by the European Union.

Elmar Brock, Chairman of the Foreign Commission at the European Parliament, says that dialogue between the government and opposition would bring a solution for reforms.

Swiss Ambassador Graf also underlines that depoliticizing the voting commissions and enabling transparency for electoral funds of political parties would help for  an easier process.

Switzerland has combined electronic and manual voting in several cantons, and their experience is very valuable for the future.
