This Thursday, the European Parliament will vote on lifting the visa regime for Kosovo, which will allow its citizens to travel visa-free to all Schengen countries.
After the vote, a commission will be formed to start talks with EU member countries. The talks will be led by Tanja Fajon.
The voting was expected to take place later, but several Parliamentary groups requested to make it within September.
After the talks, the matter will be handled by the Interior Ministers of the EU, who will decide through a qualified majority vote.
The European Commission decided on July 18th that Kosovo has fulfilled the criteria set by the EU, and recommended the European Parliament to lift the visa regime for the Schengen area.
