The political crisis in Albania has created concerns in Brussels.

Despite the declaratiosn of the European MP, Knut Fleckenstein, who arrived in Tirana with seven EP members and said that it is time for Albania to resolve its crisis on its own, the EU seems alarmed about the situation.

The President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, who considered the situation as very serious, and the stability of Balkan as very important, has recently reacted about Albania on behalf of Brussels.

Tajani didn’t spare harsh comments about the situation in Albania, saying that there is a “civil war” between the government and opposition.

Tajani made these comments during a visit in the USA, where he met with the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres , in a meeting about Balkan. As he said: “We are very focused in Balkan, as its stability means stability for Europe”.

S for the situation in Albania, he said that it is a “civil war” between the opposition and the government, very dangerous for stability.

The EP Chair says that they must be careful to see what kind of investments are being done in Balkan: “There are not only European, but also Russian, Arabian and Turkish investments. This is a difficult game”, he said, adding that Europe must be very active, but mature with Balkan.
