EP postpones Macedonia’s progress report

14/03/2017 00:00

Parliamentary session about the progress report for Macedonia due to be held this week was postponed as deputies decided it was not the right time due to the ongoing political crisis in the country.

The report also includes recomandations to initiate membership talks, but has yet to be heard as President Ivanov refuses to mandate Social Democratic Party to form the new government. Analysits in the country believe the next move of the winners of the elections is to form the government despite the refusal, and argue anti-Albanian protests are just defending members of the past government who need to give account for their ections to the judiciary authorities.

The new Parliament is expected to be established amid tensions while President Ivanov insists in not giving SDMS the mandate and Nikolla Gruevksi organizing rallies adding pressure to destabilize the country.
