The Energy Regulation Entity will decide about the new energy price
within December, while they heard the propositions of the Energy
Distribution Operator, the Transmitting System Operator and the Albanian
Power Energy.
The Energy Distribution Operator proposes a new price of 12.03 ALL for 2015, increasing price for consumers with 5 ALL. According to them, this is the minimum they can ask. They insist that the existing limits should be removed.
The Albanian Power Corporation (KESH) proposes to raise the price of the energy that is sold to the OSHEE from 2.2 ALL to 3.4 ALL.
“The relations between KESH and the OSHEE have been complicated, because the Distribution Company has not paid correctly. KESH is obliged to fill this financial gap with overdrafts. The fee proposed by KESH covers the costs that are related for these overdrafts”, declared Erideta Basha, representative of KESH.
The Transmitting System Operator asked that their price should move from 0.65 ALL to 0.75 ALL, and the fee will still be paid by the OSHEE.
In the presentation of these propositions there were members of all interest groups, from the civil society and syndications, who refuse the energy price raise.
The operators argued that the price increase would be inevitable due to the debt that is created by the overdrafts.
The Deputy Minister of Energy, Ilir Bejtja, declared that the government asked the Energy Regulation Entity to have a price not higher than the average price of 9.9 ALL/kwh. The entire energy system has plunged into a chain of debts, which has brought it to the brink of collapse.
