The Albanian Power Corporation (KESH) raises the alarm that if CEZ
Distribution will not start importing energy to cover losses, our
country risks energy collapse in September.
“If the losses are not imported within one month, the Fierza Lake will fall with six meters. With these results, we must take measures so that we will not end up importing. This is an obligation of the Energy Regulation Entity. All we can do is lower the turbines, which we will not do, because that would mean no energy”, declared Halit Velaj, Kesh Administrator.
The General Director of KESH, Halit Velaj, says that CEZ Distribution has not paid all the debts inherited when by the Czech managers. He even says that these obligations were increased during the last six months, reaching a total of 450 million USD.
“CEZ has not paid its obligations for 2013. The obligations reached 300 million USD. In six months, this figure has increased with 140 million USD. In these conditions, the debt mounts up to 450 million USD”, Velaj declared.
Another burden for KESH is the 20 million USD debt that the corporation owes to small producers.
“KESH has a 20 million USD debt to the hydropower plants. There have been tow payments but the money was not enough. Today all my accounts are frozen and I don’t have money to invest or lend it to anyone. I’m just trying to pay the employee’s wages”, Velaj declared.
