The shocking tragedy in Shkozet, Durres, where a teenage shot and killed
his peer inside the classroom caused a strong debate in the Albanian
Parliament. The Interior Minister, Saimir Tahiri, warned for harsher
measures against illegal arm possession and accused the former
government of leaving them around as a heritage.
“Your heritage was a massive arm possession through the country, and that’s why the Interior Ministry will urgently bring two draft-laws to Parliament for closing the black chapter of public safety in our country”, Tahiri declared.
“47 people have died in one month. It has never happened in Albania. You don’t care about crime, because you are friends of crime. You’re friends with the ‘Hakmarrja’, the Durres Gang, the Lushnje Gang and the Shullazi Gang”, declared Parliament Member and former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
“One ‘daddy’s son’ was doing business with weapons dismantling and blew up villages, leaving 26 victims behind, the youth of this country could not stay without thinking how to make money fast, how to do the strong type, how to possess weapons and make crimes, when the Prime Minister’s son was not being punished and his father was protecting him on the Parliament floor”, Tahiri declared.
The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, declared that the Shkozet tragedy is not related only to the criminality culture that was imposed to the youth for many years. But also with the criminality culture that for many years was imposed as a model to youth, but this has its roots to an education system, not a functional one. School is also partially responsible for the Democratic Party Parliament Member, Majlinda Bregu, but from another view.
“It has never happened that a child is killed in the classroom with a gun. This happened because the school is worried if he will have his job or not”, Bregu declared.
“You left the most politicized school that Albania has ever had since 1991. Our school where all yards turned into squares for the shows of your clown, then Prime Minister”, Rama declared.
The government leader declared that the situation needs an energetic intervention of the society, a political cooperation, saying that the intervention has started from school.
“The relations between parents, teachers and the government will be established and reinforced day by day, as a necessary relation, in a civilized country to have a school environment where you don’t speak only about teaching, but you speak also about society, and where you guarantee coexistence that turns people from wild and lonely beings, to social and cooperating beings. This project is the winning project in the battle with crime as culture”, Rama declared.
