In Vora Municipality, electronic voting and counting has been used before, while in the cities of Elbasan and Kamza, this technology will be applied for the first time on May 14th.
The equipment that will be used in these two municipalities passed the test successfully. The head of the CEC, Celibashi, said today about the voting technology: There is no possibility, way or mechanism for someone to verify the vote given by a voter for a certain subject.
Anyone who says otherwise is simply a political speculator seeking political gain on this issue.”
The socialists in power said that have faith in the process and did not participate in the testing of the equipment, but expressed concern about the possibility of the infiltration of the commissioners of the democratic rival Sali Berisha, in the seats left vacant by the faction of the Democrats of Enkelejd Alibeaj.
Celibashi answered: They and everyone else should understand first that there is no difference if a member is proposed by SP, DP or PL.
Those parties that pushed the more in this process have their point of view, but in my view it is wrong. We will make the replacement in accordance with the law.”
The citizens of Elbasan, Kamza and Vora will be the first to learn the name of the mayor, only 30 minutes after the voting process ends.
Celibashi: For some voting centers in Elbasan, we may have a delay because in these voting centers there is no telephone network coverage, but we are finding alternative solutions to give the preliminary result within 30 minutes from voting closure.
In the local elections on May 14, Albanian voters will use two ballot papers, one for mayors and one for municipal councils.
