The government has issued a 16 million USD fund for compensating
families from the electricity price raise. But how will the compensation
scheme work?
“There will be six categories of families that will profit from the fund. The families with social welfare will all benefit. The second category is that of houses with family chiefs who are in pension or disabled.
All families with disabled memebrs or budget employees who receive less than 35.000 ALL per month.
The Ministry of Finances says that the compensation money will be distributed each month together with the social welfare, pensions and disability payments. But once in six months, the benefiting families are obliged to submit the energy bills, proving that they have paid them.
The compensation will be around 700 ALL per month.
Who carries the burden of the new price?
Data from the Energy Regulation Entity say that there are more than 500.000 families who consume 300 kwh each month.
After the limit is removed, all these families will have to pay more, but not all of them will receive a compensation. Top Channel refers to the official data of the Ministry of Labor.
According to them, there are 204.000 families who fall in one of the six categories that will be qualified to benefit. This means that more than 300.000 other families that are affected will not receive compensation, but will face the burden on their own.
The official data show that only 40% of the families that are affected by the raised price will benefit from the compesnation fund.
