The Electoral College rejected the opposition’s request to hold local referendums regarding the new electoral map.
1300 requests had been presented at the Central Election Commission, and the CEC approved the right to collect the signatures.
But the majority asked the Electoral College to repeal the CEC decision. The College reviewed the request and attached all complaints in one, since their object was the same.
The College announced its ruling this Wednesday, by repealing the CEC decision and ending the opposition’s request to stop the territorial division change through local referendums.
However, representatives from the opposition said that this decision of the Electoral College wil not stop their initiative for referendum, since the signatures were collected on time.
