A month after the ruling socialist candidate Edision Memolla won in Rrogozhina in central Albania, the Electoral College canceled the elections in this municipality after the complaint of opposition coalition “We win together”.

The difference between the candidate of the Socialist Party, Edison Memolla, and that of the coalition “We win together”, Shkëlqim Hoxha, was narrowed to 21 votes after the recount of 55 boxes by KAS, but what led to this decision is believed to be the ballot box in the prison of Rrogozhina, which turned the result in favor of the SP candidate.

The representatives of the opposition coalition had opposed the establishment of this polling station, under the argument that only four people who were serving sentences there were residents of Rrogozhina.

The Electoral Code has clearly provided that in case of declaring invalid one or several voting centers, which affect the result, then the elections are repeated in the entire electoral area. This means that the voting center of the prison of Rrogozhina, which gave victory to Edison Memolla, is the same one that convinced the judges of the College to repeat the elections.
