Elections without the DP… Central Commission starts filling vacancies

Opposition parties will not have their representative in the regional electoral commissions after the Democratic and Republican Party did not delivered in time the names of their candidates for the positions.
The official deadline was scheduled for March 5th but even after the Central Electoral Commission postponed it for 15 days, the opposition did not offer any names. Now as described by the law, the commission has to fill the vacancies with citizens who have applied to become members of regional commissions. Official members will be declared soon.
Meanwhile, another serious test for the opposition will be the end of April, a deadline for registering parties and coalitions. Two main allies of the Democratic Party, republicans’ of Fatmir Mediu and environmentalists’ of Agron Duka on March 9th withdrew their requests to register for the June 18th elections.
