The Democratic Party increased the political action after the images
shown by Top Channel’s “Fiks Fare” investigative program. In the
Conference of Chairmen they asked the canceling of the parliamentary
session and focusing on the Korce elections.

In parallel, the opposition will file a request for a parliamentary investigation of this event and will radicalize its stance, according to Edi Paloka, DP parliamentary group leader.

“Our stance will become harsher. We will not allow someone to steal or buy votes without any consequence. We will not allow anyone to take and keep the power with stolen votes. We will radicalize our stance. We have asked a parliamentary investigation, but it is clear that this has affected also the June 23rd elections. The images shown did not speak only about these elections”, Paloka declared.

The Socialist Party released a declaration through Minister Ilirian Celibashi, declaring that their stance is the same of the local branch.

The Socialists deny that the images prove any purchased vote. According to them, the FRESSH members who study in Tirana have been paid for the bus ticket. Although the majority denies that the vote has been affected and although there has been an investigation at the Prosecution, the Democrats are convinced that elections have been damaged in Korce, and they asked their cancelation.

“We want the Central Election Commission to cancel the elections in Korce. The rule of law is the only guarantee for free and honest elections. The elections in Korce showed the criminal scene against the electoral freedom. If we don’t hit this now, the Albanian people will have no free elections in the future”, declared the Democratic Party Parliament Member, Oerd Bylykbashi.

It remains to be seen what the Central Election Commission will do, now that it has remained with the members of the former majority and today’s opposition.
