Elections, SP “lands” in USA

After failing to find justice from the Electoral College, as it hoped, SP is trying to raise awareness at the US Congress and State Department.

Although SP tried with all means to keep this move from the public, a video published in the US Congress web page for the Regulation Committee Meeting shows the congressman Alcee Hasting, member of the Helsinki Committee for the US Congress, presenting the Socialist MP Damian Gjiknuri to the committee.

 “Mr. Speaker, I ask your permission to notify that in this session we have the Albanian MP, Mr. Damian Gjiknuri. I want to emphasize that the Albanian Parliament has people who support US interests, such as war against terrorism in Afghanistan, and the mutual relations between both countries are excellent”, the congressman declared.

A US official of the Helsinki Committee declared for Top-Channel that Gjiknuri held several meetings in the US Congress with high rank personalities of several committees, such as the Helsinki Committee, the Foreign Policy Committee in the Senate Chamber, the Defense Committee and other meetings at the Department of State.

The topic of these meetings has been the Albanian elections and the crisis related to them, and also the role that the US politics might have for resolving the crisis with the new steps that the Albanian opposition will undertake this September.

SP refused to comment about this matter, and it was even impossible to get in touch with Mr. Gjiknuri. It remains to be seen what such a discreet visit will produce.
