The electoral campaign has made the Albanian people hesitant before
spending for holidays abroad. Travel agencies say that besides June,
when there was a significant drop compared to the last year, Albanians
have not booked holidays even for the months to come.
“June was an electoral month and there have not been many movements, compared to the same period of one year ago. But also the bookings of the months to come are very low, the lowest of this entire year”, says Besnik Vathi, representative of a travel agency.
“The holiday season started by the end of May, but there have been few bookings. Elections have probably affected the low level os bookings, although there has been some interest on the summer offers in the beginning of this week”, declared Keida Koshaj, representative of another travel agency.
The pre-election period has kept the Albanian citizens inside, but even the post-election period will be slow, since agencies don’t have the bookings of their clients who worked for the public administration, who fear movements and new appointments. Meanwhile, the other side is waiting to get jobs in the administration.
This category, according to them, is a good part of their customers, because they chose foreign destinations for their holidays.
