The meeting of the Presidency and the National Council did not extinguish the debates within the DP, as President Lulzim Basha seeks a third term at its helm.
Fatbardh Kadilli, the only public challenger for the leadership of the Democratic Party, did not rush to officially submit today the application for candidacy and neither did Lulzim Basha.
The DP group demanded elections for the chairman, but their participation in this process seems difficult, as long as one of the demands remains the irrevocable resignation of Basha and a deep reform of the party.
The word resignation was articulated only once by Lulzim Basha, when he challenged the National Council to admit that “national elections were stolen” in order to have his resignation on the table.
Basha says that the elections were stolen by the Rama-Doshi-Rakipi trio, but the old figure of the democratic party Bujar Nishani, advised the democratic leader to behave ‘like a man’ and to resign irrevocably.
Arben Ristani also reminded Lulzim Basha that even once he won against Edi Rama, he did not do it with his own forces.
