For several days now Elbasan in central Albania is facing an unusual situation where urban waste has invaded entire neighborhoods.
Overflowing garbage containers are seen in many areas of the city creating an ugly scenery and heavy pollution.
The Municipality of Elbasan says that the reason for this situation is the withdrawal of the city cleaning company.
The Elbasan Municipality, unprepared for this situation, has apologized to the citizens and ensures that within a few days will be completed the legal procedures of public tendering for the new company that will take care of cleaning the city.
