Ekonomi: Economic cooperation through a free trade region

Under the care of the German Foreign Minister, Frank Walter Steinmeier,
and as part of the German presidency of the OSCE, the international
conference for “Connectivity for Trade and Investments” was held today
in Berlin.

This meeting was attended by the Albanian Minister of Economy, Milva Ekonomi, and her counterparts in the region. Mrs.Ekonomi said it is now time for the cooperation commitments undertaken by our governments to turn into reality.

“Our country leaders agreed to further develop infrastructure and economic cooperation. This is the time to turn these promises into concrete initiatives, for the best of our citizens, for more trade exchanges, which, as result, will increase the number of businesses and investments”, Ekonomi said.

The Minister expressed the determination of the Albanian side to a full implementation of all measures decided at the Vienna summit, which include energy and infrastructure projects, with the purpose to finalize them by 2016.

“We express our gratitude for the assistance given to Albania at the Vienna summit regarding the Inter-Connection Network with Macedonia”, Ekonomi underlined, emphasizing that our future should have gradual investments that will turn this free trade area into a free trade region”, Ekonomi said.
