The Directors of Regional Education Units will be elected for the first
time through a competition, according to the law for the pre-university
education system.
The Minister of Education, Lindita Nikolla, says that through this transparent process their aim is to revive the education system in our country, which is outside any standard.
“The invitation is for everyone who want to give their professionalism, their spirit and love for reviving the education system in Albania. On the other hand, we will have 13 public finals, through which 3 to 5 candidates will be elected based on the documentation and criteria that are conditioned by the law. They will have the possibility to present their projects for how they will transform education in the districts and schools. It will be a linked process, in full accordance to the law”, nikolla declared.
The competition for electing the leaders of the education directories in 12 districts was decalred this monday, and candidates can submit their applications at the Education Ministry until October 28th. This competition follows an inspection led by the Minister of Education in 26 schools, which, according to Minister Nikolla, is a great concern due to the appointments without criteria and political reasons.
“In only 26 schools, 119 teachers have been appointed without fulfilling the criteria, hired during electoral campaigns”, Nikolla declared.
Based on the recommendations of the inspecting group, disciplinary measures have been taken for 59 people who have been identified with law violations, including 13 DAR leaders, and there have been remarks for other employees.
DP: Political cleansing for education
The Democratic Party considered this a campaign for making political cleansing in the education system.
“This is a political cleansing of teachers for their political convictions, disguised as an inspection. This is being made by a group of newly-appointed political militants of the Ministry of Education. We invite teachers to react and resist to the pressure made by militants that will lead this political cleansing. We appeal the Minister of Education and Sports to stop this indecent campaign for the education. The Democratic Party will assist everyone who will be politically punished”, declared the Democratic Party Parliament Member, Eleina Qirici.
