The President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, was today in a joint press release with the Prime Minister of Croatia.
In this press release, Von der Leyen declared that the EC will organize a meeting with donators for Albania, on February.
The meeting will try to raise funds for the reconstruction of Albanian homes that were destroyed by the devastating earthquake of November 26th.
“The EU is happy to declare that the conference of donators for Albania will be held on February 17th, after the tragic earthquake that hit the country.
“We want to help Albania in its efforts for reconstruction”, said Ursula von der Leyen, who also spoke about our country’s EU accession negotiations.
She said that the next months will be decisive for Albania and Northern Macedonia, whose progress with the EU accession is facing a stalemate.
The President reiterated that she will do everything possible for the progress to advance.
“We are going to work with a methodology that will advance with the enlargement and improve the accession process.
“I am convinced that this will not stop us from advancing with the EU accession progress for Albania and Northern Macedonia.
“We have asked many things from these countries and they have fulfilled the criteria. Now we must keep our promises”, she declared
Von der Leyen promised that officials in Brussels will try hard to find a way so that the EU’s door can be opened for Albania and Northern Macedonia.
