The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will fund 30.000
EUR for the Tirana Aqueduct, to supply tap water 24/7 for the capital.
The loan will be issued in two 15 million EUR installments.
The first installment will be used to increase the capacity of Bovilla and to build a network that will supply water to north of Tirana.
The second installment will be determined after the Aqueduct-Canalization will complete a study on its strategic sources.
This study will chose the most efficient investment alternatives to bring a final solution to the water tap issue in Tirana.
According to EBRD, the purpose of this project is to help the Aqueduct build a more stable system within 2021.
This summer’s drought brought a very difficult situation for Tirana, and the Municipality announced that they will take a 180 million EUR loan to fund the renewal of the total investment.
