Radar images taken by satellites from the European Space Agency and Copernicus program have shown that the land in Durres has been raised by ten centimeters after the November 26th 6.4 M earthquake.

An 85 km long tectonic plate between the cities of Lushnje and Durres is the culprit for the earthquake, according to the experts. A similar structure has caused the earthquake of September 21-st.

According to experts, the effects of the earthquake could be amplified by the geological conditions of the region.

This area has non-consolidated basins where the seismic waves grow four to five times compared to the ones on a consolidated terrain.
