Work began today on the construction site in Laç for the construction of a new neighborhood for residents damaged by the earthquake of November 26, 2019, with the main funding from the Turkish government.
Prime Minister Edi Rama said that the new constructions will completely transform the appearance of the city. During the ceremony with participants of the Turkish government, Rama said that these investments will serve the economy of the city and will make it more hospitable, while adding that the road leading to the holy Church of Shna Ndou will be improved.
“Work has begun with individual dwellings and reinforcements of 170 residential buildings for 1500 families. With the mayor we are also working on the transformation of the road to the church, which certainly serves the further growth of this city and its ability to welcome people “, said Rama among other things.
The ceremony for the start of works for the new palaces in Lac was greeted through a video message by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“Albania is a close friend and partner of Turkey in the Balkans. We see the joy of the Albanian people as our joy, and their sorrow as our sorrow. After the earthquakes that occurred in Albania, we mobilized our resources, we decided to build houses for the Albanian brothers. Despite the pandemic we signed the memorandum and today we are holding the ceremony for laying the foundations. I hope this project that will cost 42 million euros, will be useful. They will serve as a new sign of Albania-Turkey friendship. We hope to complete the first phase as soon as possible and hand it over to our brothers who lost their homes in the earthquake,” Erdogan stated in his message.
