A considerable charge of dynamite was detonated remotely at the house of
the Head of the Farka Commune, Fatbardh Plaku, this Tuesday at 3:00 am.
Fortunately there were no injuries but all his family members are shocked, and there is material damage on the walls.
The Police didn’t give much details besides than saying they consider this a terrorist act, as any other explosion that has taken place recently. Plaku was interviewed by the police regarding any possible conflict due to his job.
The Prosecution of Serious Crimes and specialists from the Antiterrorist Unit in the Tirana Police Directory were part of the investigative team.
Several local officials have been threatened by explosives in the past months, with most of them having an intimidation purpose.
The most recent case was that of Fushe Kruje, after a person threw dynamite in the Municipality’s building, which blew up after the fuse was burned.
Fortunately, their action were filmed by security cameras and the searching area was narrowed down.
Democratic Party reacts
The Democratic Party condemned the act against the Farka Head of Commune, and blamed the government for this attack in Plaku’s family, saying that they are not guaranteeing peace and order in our country.
“The Democratic Party considers this act as a coward attack against a local official elected by citizen votes, and who is also Head of the Albanian Commune Associations. The Democratic Party is concerned that seven months after this majority came to power, the local elected officials of the Democratic Party have been victims of life threatening attacks directed to them and their families. This is more than just an attack against a Democratic Party official who was elected by the people. This clearly proves that the ability of this government to secure the lives and properties of Albanian citizens has failed. The attack against the Head of the Farka Commune makes the government responsible for not securing law and order, but also for creating a favorable situation to the crime, and for hitting Democratic Party officials. The Democratic Party wants an immediate clarification of this event, discovering the authors and their supporters”, Kruja declared.
