After the Military Homes of Fier and Tirana were removed from the
ownership of the Ministry of Defense, the government is undertaking a
decision for another state owned property.
This time it is the so called “Government Villa Block” in Durres, a property of the Interior Ministry for the National Guard. The Council of Ministers posted on their website a decision which says that “based on article 100 of the Constitution and articles 8 of law no.8743 for real estate properties belonging to the state, based on a proposition made by the Interior Minister, the Council of Ministers decided to remove Building 322 from the inventory of the Interior Ministries”.
But the decision that tasks the Interior Minister to follow the necessary procedures for its implementation is not complete. It does not explain why this property is being removed from the National Guard, while the latter still holds a series of other state owned buildings.
The decision raises question about the 34.000 square meter property in the Durres coastline, an area that had been used only by the state leaders and the Interior Ministry employees. It also doesn’t specify if the ownership of this property will remain to the state under the dependence of the Interior Ministry, or if it goes to another institution, or if this decision will be followed by others that will change the destination of its area in the Durres coastline.
