Durres salesmen protest

The increased tax of open markets in Durres and the request to pay the
tax on profit for 2014, has brought 700 salesmen in protest.

They say taxes are very high.

“We have almost twice higher taxes, compared to other years. The tax on profit is now 20.000 ALL and together with the municipality tax it mounts up to a total of 80.000 ALL. We are treated as any other shop, while we work here for only five hours. The market is isolated from the city and there are too many informal sellers on the streets who compete us unfairly. We made a request to the Minister of Finances and the Municipality. We were told that the new regulation will fix our problem. We are the only ones who are paying this tax”, the representatives said.

Salesmen say that profits with 5 hours a day are very low and the competition of illegal salesmen has ruined their work.
