A few kilometers from the city of Durrës, residents of a neighborhood in Sukth face significant problems with the supply of tap water.
Representatives of the Bosnian minority and residents of the village of Borak in Sukth have protested in front of the water supply and sewerage offices, asking for a solution from the state company, as winter has begun and families are facing difficult conditions for the supplies.
“We are up in the hill neighborhood in Sukth and water comes only at night. We have complained but no one comes. The water comes an hour after dinner and is very little,” residents told Top Channel.
“We have come here for water. We are from the Bosnian minority and it seems as if we are treated differently in regards of water. Half of the neighborhood has water, the other half does not. We have complained to the municipality of Sukthi and they don’t tell us anything. I have 20 years of marriages here and I have always suffered with water”, says the interviewed woman.
“We are newcomers here and because of a personal grudge against someone, the water supply worker leaves us all without water. Our water has reached to Goxhas but no one does anything. I am retired and sick. Every night I go out at 11 at night to see if there is water is leaking, because I live on a hill. I have fallen while doing that. My old man at home is sick and there is no one to supply us with water. We get water at 12 at night, while now the frosts are coming.”
Representatives of the residents met with leaders of the water and sewerage system in Durrës, but even after talking with them, they did not find a solution to their problem.
“No solution. They say you will keep the supply schedule you have as the water does not come to us”, said the residents after the meeting.
It is not only this neighborhood, as there are entire villages in the Durrës hilly area that have significant problems with water supply from the main supply network.
