The Durres Prosecution started an investigation, after accusations that
Lulezim Berisha might have been released in probation before his time
was due.
“The Durres Prosecution is investigating over possible power abuse charges, and for any administrative practice that might have been done wrong to release Lulezim Berisha”, said the Durres Prosecution press office.
The Durres Court of Appeal admitted on December 5th a request filed by Lulzim Berisha for being released on probation for the rest of the sentence, which was six years and two months.
It seems Berisha has profited other sentence reductions, such as the “Amnesty” law of 2012. However, news reports show that the Durres Municipality has guaranteed a job for Lulzim Berisha, since he was unable to be employed in a private sector, and with the argument that he was the only provider of his family.
The Durres Prosecution is also verifying to see if the decisions taken in favor of Berisha are legal or not.
