The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Damian Gjiknuri, visited the Durres Port together with the city Mayor, Vangjush Dako.
Minister Gjiknuri said that there is a study undergoing to identify the possibilities for deepening and widening the Durres Port, which would allow bigger ships and a wider activity.
“This year we will start the deepening and enlargement project, and we are discussing the possibilities to turn the Durres port into a destination of Mediterranean cruises, which would help the economy for the entire city during the tourist season”, the Minister declared, adding that the Port Authority has applied for finding the financial means that would allow the realization of this project.
“The Portual Authority applied to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. I am sure that these funds and the added interest of cruises will bring an economic growth for the entire city”, Gjiknuri declared.
