The inclusion of the recommendations of the Party for Justice,
Integration and Unity in the final draft of the territorial reform has
caused a reaction from the United for Human Rights Party.
The UHRP leader, member of the ruling majority, Vangjel Dule, declared that the territorial map is making a favor to clients of those who are dividing it, and it is unacceptable.
Dule declared that the agreement has violated the principle for respecting the minorities. He said that he is contacting with the international factor for this, and made an appeal:
“Prime Minister Edi Rama should not deprive this major and strategic reform from the European principle, standards, seriousness and Spirit. Himara is the most notable case, where they are trying to violate their basic rights, to ruin historic balances and create problems there where there aren’t any”, Dule declared.
Despite the unclear reserves for the electoral reform, the UHRP didn’t threaten to leave the coalition, but said that all steps will be taken one by one.
The UHRP has two Parliamentary seats, one of the leader, Vangjel Dule, and one of the MP Andrea Marto, who came from the SP.
The final variant of the reform was voted by the Commission with a contribution of the PJIU.
The leader of this party, Shpetim Idrizi, was content that the commission took in consideration his proposal for the new division in Konispol, which has many Albanians of Cham origin.
In the first variant, Konispol was part of the Saranda Municipality. One of the municipalities that hasn’t changed in its final variant is Himara, which remains united with the Vlore River, which might bring a contradictory vote from the government ally.
However, the government seems to be more interested on the votes of the PJIU, which keeps considering itself as an opposition party. Through this party, the government can continue the reform without the DP.
“If someone would ask us why we waited so long, the answer is very clear. We waited for the two main parties to reach a consensus. If someone would ask us why we didn’t wait any more, what should we have done? Leaving Saranda divided in three municipalities? Leaving Delvinva in an economic death? Leaving some part of Chameria lose its integrity? Certainly not, that’s why we are here”, Idrizi declared.
The variant that was voted this Thursday at the Commission will be the final one, although the majority say they will wait until July 31st for other propositions about the reform.
