The debate about the Census returned in the Parliament after the leader
of the UHRP (United for Human Rights Party), Vangjel Dule, asked an
interpellation with Minister Genc Pollo, the chairman of the State
Commission for the realization of the Census.

“The amends that were made to the Census law, in the session of July, damage the basic human rights and freedoms. In the specific case, it damages the members of national minorities. Article 20 of the law, which we strongly oppose, is an administrative violation due to the fines it imposes, as follows, 1) refusal to declare or fake declaration, a fine of 100.000 ALL. This process doesn’t guarantee the basic rights, which is the right of self declaration”, declared Vangjel Dule.

Minister Pollo rejected the pretenses of the MP Vangjel Dule.

“The official stance of the European Position, which has supported us with millions of Euros, was that like the law, including the amends made 2 months ago, and the questionnaire, are in full accordance with Eurostat”, Mr. Pollo replied.
