“Drug Traffic from Gjader in 2012-2013”

30/05/2014 00:00

The testimony of a military who served from 2011 to 2013 in the Gjader
Military, and other testimonies given by the local residents, were made
public this Saturday by the Parliamentary Investigative Commission,
which is investigating the involvement of the Armed Forces in the drug
traffic.

“The Commission asked the Ministry of Defense and all of its structures to give information, claiming that an airplane has landed in the Gjader airfield on 19 March 2014. This request was also made to the General State Police Directory, The Secret Service, the Civil Aviation Authority, the AlbControl, the Proscution General, the Prosecution of Serious Crimes and the General Directory of Customs. The claim says that the airplane has landed and a white van stopped by it”, declared the Chairwoman of the Commission, Ermonela Felaj.

The information received from all state structures has rejected these claims. They say that there is no evidence about the landing of an airplane in Gjader.

But if there is no evidence about March 19th, the Commission has been able to secure an important testimony, which says that the Armed Forces have been involved in the past.

“The most important fact that this Commission discovered, was a full documented testimony, and accompanied by evidence, which prove that in 2012 and the early months of 2013, drugs have been transported from the Gjader airfield”, declared the Chairwoman of the Commission, Ermonela Felaj.

This testimony was given by a citizen with initials S.Gj, a military who has worked as guard at the Gjader airfield. His declaration was given on October 10th, at the Military Police.

The testimony shows that narcotics have been transported through small airplanes that landed in Gjader during 2012 and 2013.

“The witness has worked at the Gjader airport from 2011 to 2013 as a military. During this period, his duty was to guard the airfield in the Gjader airbase”, Felaj declared.

“I have served at the Gjader airport from 2011 to 2013. In October 2012, shepherds told me that an airplane lands there and got loaded with some suspicious crates. Another day, when was in service, I saw the airplane landing at 07:30. I communicated with the Gjader airbase and I told them what I saw. The guard commander, with intials E.M, together with guard S.Gj, rode a motorcycle to the airfield and found the airplane with five other people. They were filling the airplane with fuel and were loading some packages inside the airplane. When asked what they were doing, they said they were part of the Secret Service and they were training for the fight against antidrug traffic. When the commanding guard told them that their chief was coming, they repeated they were from the Secret Service and left. The witness confirms that he has communicated with the captain with the initials A.SH, telling him that a suspicious airplane had landed. The captain communicated with the management officer, with initials B.D, who tried to cover this fact by ordering to not report that the airplane landed, but only that it flew by, and that they should get involved in this. The same airplane flew after two days, but didn’t land in Gjader. The same airplane arrived two weeks later. The witness saw four people filling the airplane with fuel and loading the packages. He asked them if they had an authorization, and they gave the same answer, that they were with the Secret Service. These people wre armed and according to the witness, he tried to communicate with his captain once again, who told him to not create problems. After this moment, the airplane land two other times in Gjader, but the witness didn’t get closer because some people in Shkoder had told him that the airplane had a permit from the Defense Ministry. Right after these events, the witness S.Gj has been transferred to another institution”, says the permit owned by the Commission and read by the Socialist Party Parliament Member, Ermonela Felaj.

The existence of this evidence had been warned by the Prime Minister this Thursday, on Top Channel’s “Top Story”, where he declared that the Investigative Commission led by the Socialist Party Parliament Member, Ermonela Felaj, has discovered facts for drug traffic from air when Albania was led by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha. Rama declared that these facts were shocking.
