Road 117 in Tetovo will be named “Dritan Hoxha”. The decision was voted by the Tetovo Municipal Council.
The Albanian councilors of BDI and PDSH gave their highest evaluations for the founder of Top Media.
Durim Luma, councilor of the PDSH, declared:
“It was a very sincere proposal by the head of the Tetovo Commune to honor the name and personality of the late Dritan Hoxha, who has a great influence on the Albanian business and the organization and development of the independent media in Albania. Dritan Hoxha is a man who has democratized the free speech and has united all Albanian lands”, he declared.
On the same line was his colleague at the Council, Daut Arifi, Councilor of the BDI.
“If we are set for a multi-ethnic and democratic society, we must know to respect each other on this end, and the councilors from the Macedonian community must understand that the situation in our city is special and it is indispensable to respect history and the national figures of each other”.
The initiator of the idea for naming a Tetovo road after Dritan Hoxha, Sadi Bexheti, declared that the work of this figure has influenced the democratization of the Albanian society. Bexheti thanked the Macedonian councilors for voting his initiative.
“I think that he is a personality that has contributed and that in a short time was able to realize the democratization of the Albanian society, making it competitive for the international and national media. I can say that he was the only man with a great vision for the society in general. I am happy to have now an important road in Tetovo named after this personality”, the Mayor declared.
The Mayor of Tetovo spoke on the importance of the Tirana media for the Albanians in Macedonia.
“It is very important that the Albanian media helps with the direct information and the aspect of the media in Macedonia, because we have no other window, besides the Albanian media”, he added.
The road sign with the name of the late Top Media President was prepared, while the inauguration of the “Dritan Hoxha” road will be made in his fourth anniversary of death.
