Cancer is spreading rapidly in our country due to smoking, alcohol, pollution, malnutrition and a series of other causes.
There are 3500-4000 cases of lung, intestine, prostate, uterus and breast cancer in Albania.
To help with a quick diagnostics, a new equipment has arrived at the bio-chemical lab of the Tirana University Hospital Center, completing the field of most important reagents for different tests.
“This is a very necessary analyze not only for the diagnosis, but also for following the therapy and in some cases even for curing the disease. There was one type of test that we used to do before, but that we weren’t able to do for a long time. Thanks to the generous help of “Raiffeisen Bank” we have a new equipment that will guarantee normal functionality”, declared the Health Minister, Ilir Beqja.
The head of the lab, Mark Ndoi, declared that there are still several reagents missing in the lab.
“We have always worked for the basis, the most necessary ones. We are waiting for the hormones, with the new budget. Things have progressed and soon I believe we will have those that are missing too”, Ndoi declared.
The TUHC Director, Ogerta Manastirliu, declared that they are working with the pharmaceutical companies for supplying medicaments also for cytostatics, which are used for treating tumors. The fund for this issue has been doubled.
