The government will hand over to Parliament for the identification and registration of citizens who live in emigration.
The draft-law will create a unique register through which every Albanian citizen who lives abroad will receive all state services, including the right to vote.
The Ministry of Interior and that of Foreign Affairs, and to respective Ministers, gave details in a joint conference.
The Minister of Interior appealed Albanians to cooperate with the state structures and said that the Albanian government will be in charge to provide services to them.
Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati said the initiative shows the majority’s will the debt that our state owes to these citizens who have helped developing our country in these two decades.
“We aim to identify Albanian citizens wherever they are, to offer them services and give them the right to vote”, he added.
