Sali Berisha has today confirmed the coalition of his part in the Democratic Party with the Socialist Movement for Integration for the March 6 elections. The coalition is called the “House of Freedom”, as other parties are expected to join.
This was confirmed in Top Talk programme by the member of the PD Re-establishment Group, Arben Ristani, who said that talks are still ongoing with other parties. Asked what is considered a victory and what a loss for this coalition in the March 6 elections, Ristani, among other things said that he would not be surprised by a possible withdrawal of the current leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, from the elections.
Ristani: I believe that we are very competitive and with many opportunities we can win in Shkodra, the same can be said for Dibra and Durres. Lushnja also has a very good candidate. Now Basha’s DP is a minority, for me most likely there may be some withdrawal at some point. I say this from practice, from what has happened before, Basha has a problem coping.
“He has always avoided elections, except for those moments when he bargained at the table, as happened with Edi Rama in 2017. He does not even have a candidate to choose from, no one supports him, he is an extreme minority within us”, added Ristani.
