The leader of the opposition DP, Lulzim Basha during his speech in the assembly said that the government led by Edi Rama has borrowed as much as all the Albanian governments cimbined from 1991 to 2013.
“In 8 years, Edi Rama has borrowed as much as all the governments of Albania together, from 1991 to 2013.
“Billions of euros of debt in the name of the Albanian people, which did not go to the well-being of simple families, nor went to a better education system, nor to a better health system, nor to support for livestock and farmers.
“But where did these billions of euros go? The answer is simple. In the state described by Transparency International as caught by corruption, which the US State Department ranks as the most corrupt in the region and in Europe, these billions of euros of debt owed on behalf of Albanians went to a small handful, people, closely related to the one sitting back here, who milk the state, even though they do not have a degree from the ‘shepherds’ academy’.
With the latter they mock or cover up their failures in the agricultural sector”, said Basha, ironically mentioning the government’s latest project to open a shepherd training academy.
