DP: “This is what we offered for the negotiations”

The Democratic Party said in a press release that the declaration of the EU Ambassador to Tirana is a distorted truth.

“The Democratic Party was informed today by the opposition allies for the stance held by the EU Ambassador to Tirana, Romana Vlahutin, that the Albanian opposition had not brought any proposition for reaching compromise during the negotiations with the EPP official, and that the DP simply rejected their proposition.

The Democratic Party is not happy to say that this is a complete distortion of truth and facts. Before presenting us the proposition to replace four ministers of the Rama government with technical persons, and postponing the elections to July 16th, the Democratic Party brought three propositions with the purpose to reach compromise:

1. The offer for the Prime Minister of the technical government to be proposed by the current majority.

2. As for the election date, the offer of the DP was to explore the possibility to hold electronic elections within October. If this would be possible, we could work for it.

3. The Democratic Party reconfirmed their stance that right after the technical government was formed, the opposition would contribute in Parliament for a full implementation of the Vetting Process and the judiciary reform.

After presenting this offer for compromise, the Democratic Party was informed that Edi Rama rejected this offer, bring an end the efforts for inter-mediation.

The Democratic Party expresses deep regret for the disinformation that Ambassador Vlahutin has made towards smaller parties. These unilateral stances don’t help resolve the crisis, but deepen it”, DP says.
