DP: Tahiri’s measures, ridiculous

11/02/2014 00:00

The Democratic Party denounced what they called an effort of the
Interior Minister to remove attention from the heavy situation of
accidents and of victims in our streets.

“Currently, the minimal punishment for drivers caught driving under the influence is five days, according to the new Criminal Code. The Minister wants to change it to 10 days. This is a ridiculous measure coming from a ridiculous Minister. But the Minister must tell us how many drunk drivers have been arrested so far, and how many have been sent to the Prosecution for criminal proceeding? This is nothing more than a ridiculous and condemnable effort for deviating attention from the responsibilities for the increased accidents in our country, from the increased number of victims and from the Minister’s disability to make the necessary reforms”, declared the Democratic Party Spokesperson, Laura Vorpsi.
