Five months before elections 2017, the Democratic Party has started
forming a coalition, aiming to force the government accept electronic
voting and ballot count, which is their main condition for guaranteeing
free and fair elections.
Vangjel Dule, from the party that represents the Greek Minority, is the newest member of this coalition. But the opposition leader, Lulzim Basha, wants to take it even further.
The opposition is currently avoiding the option of a parliamentary boycott. However, the idea was discussed at their Parliamentary Group meeting.
Edmond Spaho, Arben Ristani, Genc Ruli and Flamur Noka were all for boycotting the Parliament, postponing elections and organizing protests.
The other MPs supported only the protest option, although MP Majlinda Bregu doubted the ability of their structures to organize the protests.
Sali Berisha and Jozefina Topalli were also against boycott. Their line, according to Berisha, was to mobilize the entire potential of the opposition, including Parliamentary Debates, in order to bring back free and fair elections.
Jozefina Topalli said that the Democratic Party should work hard to get the disappointed closer to the party, to build trust and optimism before elections.
